“James Hahn Rips New PGA Tour Plan And Says The Stars Are Being ‘Very Hypocritical’”

Interesting take lol. Thoughts?

hate them,” Hahn said of the changes. "I’m gonna say exactly what 99.99 percent of fans said about players leaving for the LIV Tour. If our players just said, ‘We’re doing this for the money,’ I would have a lot more respect for them. But how they’re covering up what they’re doing and trying to make it a thing about sponsors and fans and saving opposite-field events. I think that’s all BS.

We’ve been talking about money for the last two years and for them not to say that that’s not the No. 1 reason why they’re making these changes —it’s very, very hypocritical.”

My thought is I don’t think he is lying.

Ask James which professional sport doesn’t make sure that the biggest stars make the most money.

Hahn has played the victim card before. Play better.

Wait a minute. The guys that left for the LIV are bad guys for chasing money, but they guys on tour that endorse these elevated events because it gets them more money, are fine. And frick Hahn for pointing it out? Is that the position we are taking?

The individual sports. Everyone has the opportunity to win the same amount.
Until the PGA has now decided to kick out almost half a field to pay the stars all the money.

Will the 70 player no cut events get OWGR points?

Times are changing. Power has shifted from the owners/leagues to the players in almost every sport. The stars have the leverage and are taking advantage of it. Thanks to LIV, PGA Tour stars have found out they have the same kind of leverage.
I’m not saying it’s better or worse.

Yeah, felt bad for Chris Kirk when he walked away with only $1.5 mil for his Honda win.
And these damn stars like Kurt Kitayama winning all the money, ridiculous.

The people that run the PGA tour have handled this LIV mess terribly. They were used to being the only game in town for too long. Now they are having to react on the fly. They are making a mess of several events like Honda a couple weeks ago. They are basically creating a Korn Ferry tour within the PGA schedule.

My problem is them designating events to be more like LIV, but’s the reason people don’t watch LIV.
I have no interest and have never watched a no-cut event. Why would I want to watch that? It’s the equivalent to a preseason football game. There’s nothing that matters. No consequences. No drama. Not watching

So you never watched Tiger win at Firestone, the tour championship, the bmw championship, or the tournament of champions?

Really enjoy the No Laying Up guys (travelogues mostly, they don't do Strapped anymore it seems), but the mental gymnastics they are performing related to the new plan and LIV are pretty annoying, especially Soly. He's such a shill.

I get annoyed how Soly and Dj are so quick to be insulting to LIV instead of just discussing the topic, but I don't think they're bending over backward here. They said they not the biggest fan of no cut, but they like how the PGA is making it more lucrative to a better golfer with an almost relegation system. You have to earn your way into these events. It's not an invitational that you can remain in. They were also pretty critical of the fact that no cuts will leave too many guys playing on the weekends.

The players are the owners of the PGA tour.

this 1000%. Been a huge NLU guy for a while now but have mostly given them up aside from the Trap Draw. But now they are even trying to ruin that with Neil and Cody being on there part of the time.

I wouldn't call the LIV guys bad guys, but I'd call Hahn out for this take. LIV is an invitational for 90% of the players. Hahn could qualify for these designated events in 24 if he finishes in the top 50 this year or qualifies through the non designated events next year. Unlike the PIP, which gives Hahn no chance to earn that money, this at least gives everyone something to aspire to. If you don't make top 50 the year before, go to the non designated events to earn your spot. There will be plenty of big name guys that didn't qualify the year before that will be in the lower events trying to get in the big ones.
