Police arrived to a smash and grab robbery in Edmonds, WA and had to stand at the scene and watch the robbers flee. State law stops them from chasing criminals. Talk about working with one hand tied behind your back. No wonder the crime rate is rising in the country.

So the store owner should shoot the robbers and then run away

You better be able to defend yourself and family and your castle

Can’t depend solely on cops if they even respond at all.

Under the current law a police officer may only initiate a vehicle pursuit if the officer has reasonable suspicion of a DUI, or probable cause for a violent crime or sex crime. Members of law enforcement say since the law passed nearly two years ago, pursuits have diminished and drivers routinely flout orders to stop. …

(D)efenders of the restrictions passed in 2021 say the new law is meeting its goal of reducing deaths among innocent bystanders. …

State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Manka Dhingra, a Democrat, said … that she views the current restrictions as successful at reducing the number of innocent people killed by police vehicle pursuits.

How many innocent bystanders were being killed in police chases? I suspect that it was not a very large number.

There is a case here where the cops were chasing a guy so he called 911 then cited the law by name and told the dispatcher to tell them to quit following him.

Have an undercover cop shoot the suspected criminal.

Then say ooh well I cannot go after the suspected criminal.

Write in the report the suspect fled the scene and according to state law I could not chase them.

You got to turn the law into your favor and against the criminal.

Problem solved.
