Folks inside the Big 12 believe they’ll land Pac-12 schools as soon as this month.

Folks inside the Pac-12 insist no one is jumping unless it’s a really bad TV deal. And experts project a very similar $$ number.

Story from me and ?@max_olson?

Last July, weeks after USC and UCLA’s stunning Big Ten announcement, Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff made a bold realignment prediction: “No Pac-12 school is going to the Big 12.”

Eight months later, we may finally learn whether his confidence was justified or false bravado.

Kliavkoff is facing pressure to deliver a new media rights deal to his members by the end of the month. If the dollar figures or the details are underwhelming, March may be the moment when the Big 12 finally strikes. Sources briefed on the discussions say the conference has been in recent contact with the so-called Four Corners schools — Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah — which has renewed optimism that convincing them to join is possible.

Kliavkoff telling everyone to remain calm. Everything is going great.

PAC will be the new Big East.

Get ready for the 2-4 remainers to raid the hell out of the MW and AAC to build a 12 team league.

The PAC will be the AAC

The AAC will be CUSA

History repeats.

Voluntarily downgrading is always the way to go.

Stanford and Cal drop football, udub and Oregon to the big ten, Oregon state and Washington state to the mountain west.

Snagging the AZ schools along with Utah and Colorado would make the BIG 12 better than it ever was.

WTF is this shite. Colorado already was in the Big XII.

So you're saying Arizona, ASU and Utah, BYU, UCF, Houston and Cincinnati are better than Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M, OU and Mizzou?

Unfricking real.

Remember when the Big 12 was going to collapse and they would all go to the PAC 12? Now it’s reverse

That looks suspiciously like their last 4 invitees.

Someone is obviously lying here… and I’m guessing it’s the folks who have been in full blown panic mode lately

Not much really impacts Tulane I think since we'll still be in a league with Memphis and SMU - it just might have a different name to it.

No

But it probably does make it the #3 P5 football conference and a strong basketball conference

Remember when Boxing and Horse Racing used to be two of the big three sports in America? College football is headed down that path.

I think more revenue will impact Tulane. We will be able to keep good assistant coaches instead of losing all of them. More money for the athletic department to upgrade facilities before the next wave of conference realignment.

ETA: this is all assuming the PAC’s new TV deal is better than what we are getting in the American.

I don’t disagree with this take overall, but I think it’s strange in response to this news.

Colorado and Utah definitely do not fit in the PAC12. Arizona and Arizona State don’t as well with the LA schools gone.

I think Texas Tech is closer to the Arizona schools than any remaining PAC12 team, and they were conference foes long ago in the Border Conference.

No good rivalries would be lost from this move.

Yeah. That's definitely not better than the current ACC.
