re: La Tech was up 5-4 in the 6th, Ole Miss won 4-3

quote:That is not true for a suspended game. If a game has not gone the regulation 7 complete innings the umpire can suspend it, but it ultimately falls on the coaches/administration to come to an agreement on how to handle the game. "Halted", "No Contest", or "Completed". Ole Miss had every right to not agree to the other options causing it to default to a "Completed" game. As it is a non-conference game there are no conference rules to abide by and if like most contracts for these games the contract probably defaulted to Home teams decision unless it interfered with Visiting teams travel rules. Not wrong, but not exactly right either.
the umpire ultimately calls the game over, not the coaches.

Link or are you just making this shite up?

Not tarping the field and then when asked if they could complete the game at a later date, they said no.
SIAP, but Ole Miss is not going to move heaven and earth to finish a midweek game against Louisiana Tech.

Oh, perfect. You have a source who was texting you about Ole Miss attempting to skip out on the game before it was played. Completely believable.
Just so the thread is perfectly clear, this is what you claim was told to you through an inside sauce.

It was communicated that his administration wouldn't let him move it up any further because of classes, but Ole Miss' entire starting lineup made the noon BP.
Factually, too, do you not understand players can have morning classes that can't be interfered with?

Regardless, it's dumb not to tarp the field

In all of this hysteria on this message board, everyone ignores the fact Ole Miss was leading the game at the conclusion of the last inning played. That's glossed over time and time again. It means something because NCAA rules say it does.
Everyone has acknowledged that.

Let me answer for the crowd: they should move heaven and earth to replay a game that they technically already officially won against a non-conf opponent, out of the goodness of their hearts, and they should also run their tarp crew out after they pull everyone off the field for safety reasons.
If they don’t do those things, it’s because they’re scared pussies.

How is rescheduling the game on a common open Tues/Wed and having Tech come to them moving heaven or earth?
If that's the case, then they certainly moved heaven and earth to make sure the remainder of the game wouldn't be played.
Just seems like a bitch move and it should be called as such.

It's not as easy as "hey, let's play next Wednesday."
There are financial concerns, travel concerns, academic concerns, etc. These are both state entities charged with the safeguarding of student athletes. Certain formalities have to be met with their contracts.

quote:Not what I said or my source said. I simply stated that LTU approached Ole Miss and said they would play as early as necessary to get the game in and to allow them to be out of the area before inclement weather were to move in. It was communicated that they would only move the game up an hour because the administration did not want to interfere with classes. When Ole Miss began taking BP shortly before noon it was noticed that the entire starting lineup for Ole Miss was in attendance at that time.
attempting to skip out on the game before it was played
Notice I did not say Ole Miss tried to skip or that they necessarily did anything wrong. Ole Miss did absolutely nothing 'wrong', they have every right to only look out for Ole Miss. They also have every right to be called out for their gamesmanship when it applies.

And I asked for a link for this, because you completely made it up.

LOL, yes it is.
Sports post-COVID taught that colleges can reschedule games within the week.

USC and Auburn moved a series from CA to AL on about 3 days notice last week.
The logistics can be dealt with.

What was their incentive to make any effort at all to reschedule the game? Is that typically done in rainouts that have completed enough innings to count as official games? If so that would be surprising. It’s certainly not a zero effort endeavor to add a game to a set schedule.
If it had gone the other way, I wouldn’t expect LaTech to be like “we officially won this game, but let’s do a do-over so everyone thinks it’s fair.” It certainly wouldn’t be a bitch move to accept your luck and move on, IMO.
Anyway, screw Ole Miss. just seems to me that someone (not most of the ppl ITT) is trying to make something out of almost nothing so makes it sound worse than it was.

To play 2.5 innings of a non-conference midweek game?
It's not how, it's why?

Tech offered alternatives to complete the game, like an earlier start for one. Weather was coming in, not a surprise at all. Ole Miss chose to be obtuse. They are/were scared of Tech. Kinda like LSU is

Why would lightening cause a delay?

Not saying there was an incentive, it's just hilarious to act like rescheduling is such a hard thing to do.

Kinda a standard safety practice with all outdoor sports. 2 mile radius? 5? Safety for fans mainly, lawsuits if something goes wrong.
