Or they were sparring the family from embarrassment. BRPD has info that hasn’t been released to the public.

With all due respect to the family, if I'm BR leadership I'm making sure the story gets out IF this was either an OD or just a drug deal gone bad
There's a huge PR difference between a normal family guy from GA getting randomly robbed and killed while walking back to his hotel vs a guy tracking down homeless and searching out drugs.
Being an addict doesn't mean he deserves to die or his death isn't a tragedy for his friends and family. But if his own poor choices ultimately led to his demise, that needs to be known

This would be supported by Murphy Pauls radio interview on 3/2 when he mentioned
“More than likely it did not happen in the downtown area, where he was at, there's still parts of the investigation that I cannot reveal at this time, and there is also some evidence that has yet to be presented"
