To me this dude is a gimmick coach and is hurting the saints. Doesn't believe in the run, and his personnel choices/decisions is horrible at best. OK, he went to the NFC champ game in 06. Tell me how many teams in the NFL has gotten a bye in the playoffs with a 10-6 record? All he did is win one playoff game and he is the next Bill Walsh. Just don't get it

Rook, I'm there with you dude. I mentioned the 10-6 record in '06 in another post and we got a #2 seed!! That means the rest of the NFC was horrible that year. Payton is an ok offensive coach if he just called plays 50-50 with run vs. pass. I mean even a 60-40 pass run would be good cuz we are explosive. But if teams KNOW that all we really do is pass then it makes it really easy for the other teams D to defend the pass, no matter who is at QB or anything else. A run game of any type at least keeps the LBs and SS in check somewhat. I just hope Payton wakes up one day.

P.S. I felt really sorry for the Saints and Brees on Sunday, they just looked embarrassed and ashamed and really just out of sync.

because he still has a winning record as a saint and he led us to the best season in saints history. this season isn't even over yet. we have a ridiculous amount of injuries (injuries are part of the game, but its been crazy for the saints the last two seasons). several consensus good football teams are having not so great seasons-the colts and the chargers. It's too soon to be callin for payton's job. If the saints completely tank for the rest of the season, maybe. why are u so quick to want to fire the guy? I mean, the saints don't win a lot ever. we are not a dynasty. its been two and a half seasons, at least let him finish this one.

i have had problems with several play calls like the onside kicking with ten minutes left, but its too soon to fire the guy.

What would you rather do... give our offense a chance to get the ball back or give our defense a chance to let Atlanta score again?

This is probably what Payton was thinking when he went with the onside kick so early in the 4th quarter.

Payton's an aggressive play-caller, likes to roll the dice, and I have no problems with that. If our offensive line could run block, maybe we would be able to run the ball more. Hell, if Brees wouldn't get rid of the ball so quickly, or be able to move around the pocket like he does, the o-line might not look so good at pass blocking either...

I support him because he's our head coach...he does some things I don't always like...but as long as it says SAINTS on his shirt I'm with him. My goggles are on right now but c'mon this isn't our first rodeo.

Because the majority of the Saints problems can be blamed on Gibbs and the excessive amount of injuries. The last time i checked the Saints had the #1 offense in the league.

Lets see how the season plays out. We are all disappointed in the results this season because of high hopes. We need to get hot really fast.

We definitely need to take injuries into account. I think if he makes a change on the defensive side of the ball we could be very good going forward. We also need a "new Deuce" type back that can keep Brees from getting killed.

I'm concerned about his stubborness......also seems like a true a-hole nature might be coming out. Hope I'm wrong and as long as he wins games I don't care.

Absolutely need a new RB in the Deuce mode, but I have zero confidence in Paytons evaluation of talent. Do you realize that the saints are going to give up a 1st round pick for shockey if they resign Vilma. Also, out of the last 3 draft classes maybe 3 or 4 are worth a shite. Thats 14% success rate in the draft. Look at the Giants they are at like 80% success. Giants best team in the NFC, Saints bottom feeders. Its not just his ridiculous play callings and challenging of plays that are obvious not worth challenging. Its the way he has built this team as well.

hear me out..

Saints currently have the #1 offense in the NFL speaking of yardage, and 9th in scoring. Sean Payton runs the offense and calls the plays. I'd say he's doing just fine there.

On the other hand, the defense 22nd in points allowed and we missed 2 or 3 important field goals this year. Now it IS Payton's job to address the Defense and Special teams with him being the head coach so that's all we can ask for in the offseason.

You can whine and complain about the running situation and play calling and what not, but when it comes down to it, the offense is producing and the numbers show it. He needs to grow a pair, fire Gibbs, and bring in some mean mother frickers on the defense so we can have an equally balanced football team. And THAT my friend will bring a championship to NOLA!!!!!

I defy anyone to go back and watch the 3rd quarter of the Bears playoff game and tell me that Payton didn't cost us a trip to the Super Bowl by (surprise surprise) abandoning the run after we had gashed an exhausted Bears defense for 3 straight long runs by Deuce and Karney.

paytons not the scout retard. he doesnt scout players. we have "professional scouts" who go out and scout players and return to the office with a grade for how they are. that being said, blame our scouts.
