What? microtransactions in gaming have been hated on since day 1.

Not at all, at least not for MMOs. Players wanted to try out games but didn't want to buy a sub ($10-$15 per month, depending on the game) in order to do it. When they started going FTP due to microtransactions, players jumped all over it.

Businesses will focus on what brings in the most money, so games have been focusing on microtransaction items more than compelling content and that has killed consumer support for microtransactions.

I don't see how many of these other industries don't wind up going down similar paths.

How soon until we see a subscription required to enter a grocery store?

Want your groceries brought out to your car?
Want more fuel points?

Walmart has delivery service with their subscription model. I bought it for my aunt who had alzheimers and would complain about being out of food. When she would complain, I would deliver whatever item(s) she was missing.

What's crazy is when you pay for one of these upgrades and you sell the car the upgrades don't transfer

If consumer values it….

The real indicator is 32 trillion dollars in debt and idiot "leaders" who think they can keep spending more than they take in.

i.e. mass corruption
