an average QB this year...

They commended Miles for doing the right thing and releasing RP, knowing it was going to be painful in the short term, but in the long run the program will be better for it..

We are pretty decent team IMO, not that far off this year even..

Hang in there people, things will get back to normal before you know it..

This incoming class is going to be our best ever, or could be our best ever!

relax and enjoy watching CFB..

Great post Apex. You are absolutely right. We are very close to being a very good football team.

We are close to being a good football team. I do however feel that our defense many times has also let us down.

We have had trouble on offense, but a big problem on this team has also been the defense. And our offense doesn't always go three and out allowing other teams to run our defense down.

It is rather our defense making mental mistakes and not minding their gap assignments that have caused us to give up the big play.

Be careful when listening to the talking heads.

Yes, i think qb has been an issue. But I think you are making a mistake when saying that is all this team needed.

Yea, but a good QB that the team trusts will make the whole team play better. A good QB that can guide the offense down the field and keep the D off the field helps the D play better. Its a mindset. In interviews, I know the players say they trust Lee and he is getting better, but that is what they are supposed to say. They aren't going to throw their teammate under the bus. But, I'm sure their are many guys on the team that feel let down, that feel like Lee is screwing this season up. That is not a good thing, and I really believe that could have a profound impact on the play of the team as a whole. The D gets a stop, out comes the offense, throw a pick, and "not this shite again". That has to be going through some of the players minds. I may be way off base here, but thats my 2 cents.

While I agree limitedly with what you say, I say defense has been a bigger issue.

How bout if we look at things another way. If the defense allowed the games to be low scoring, we could allow Lee to just not try to lose the game for us rather than trying to have him win it.

Put Lee in the position and tell him not to lose the game rather than forcing him to have to make plays and some of the turnovers go away.

I don't think our defense is a huge problem. I think the problem lies when the offense can't move the ball and gives the other team great field position and that puts huge pressure on the defense. If our QB was a little more experienced these problems would correct itself.

Against Bama, we were leading 14-7. He threw pick 6. He missed the open receivers almost throughput the game. Against UGA and UF, you can blame defense more than offence. Bama, no.

They were 100% right for saying that. He did take the tough road, but it was without a doubt, the right road to take. I'm definately not freaking out about the future, I know we'll be better than well off for the next so many years. Good thing too, that's the only thought that has diminished our losses in my mind as of lately, the fact that we are on a rebuilding year.

I believe Miles needs a top shelf DC... This maybe harder to find than developing a player at QB..

I agree the Defense is more a concern to me. We have the players, we just a need a coach! One coach! NFL experience type coach

In spite of the Defensive woes, with an average QB, we beat UGA and BAMA.. Both home games BTW! Might have been a lot different on the road?

The main point is, Miles recruited players are darn good! Near championship level!

We find a QB and DC, we keep rolling

"We bowlin baby!" " We bowlin"

ApexTiger - you are dead on - could not agree more - we need a single leader on the defense - co - leaders rarely if ever work.

I disagree completely.
We're a one-loss team with a coach that doesn't call 34 passing plays against the No. 1 team in the nation, putting the game in the hands of a third-string redshirt freshman QB.
Especially with the talent at OL and RB.

So you have a problem with Gary Crowton?

I hear what your saying, but at some point the QB has to make the throws, or take a sack or throw it away...At this point, he is almost 2 years in the program

The int's come on 3rd and longs, that is a problem...Miles conceded, running would have been a better choice 20/20 in the 2nd QTR with the lead, he also pointed the reasons we ended up in 3rd and long.

However, an Average QB likely doesn't throw 4 picks, that is the lesson here, but your opinion has been noted

I am not saying Lee doesn't have average Talent, but when the entire country is cracking jokes at your QB, eh, the is a glaring problem that is obvious to people outside the emotions of LSU nation. We don't have a QB right now, to be an elite team.

I hope he improves, but at this point, I think he is head case, the damage has been done

Exactly the reason, most rookie NFL QB hold a clip board the first year

RP was a cancer on this team. We would not be a 1 loss team had we kept RP. He would have been suspended for at least 1 or 2 games by this point. Instead of losing by pick 6's we'd be losing bc our starting QB was snorting too much cocaine - personally I'd rather the former. Lee has his problems but he gives it his all and puts the team ahead of himself.
