I’ve got 2 gay cousins. Both their dads are manly men and their siblings are regular guys.

How do you explain them being gay? Do you think they’re confused, evil?

It is definitely a trait that some are born with. There are many others who were not born that way but were turned that way by their upbringing. I’ve seen both.

To the OP’s point, just because people are born that way does not mean it is genetic. Something could have gone wrong in the womb, as an example.

We generally think about this incorrectly, I think, visualizing it (“it” being same sex vs opposite sex attraction) as an either/or proposition, when it’s really a spectrum of preference.

So I don’t think people are “born gay”, born straight, or anything else, but I do think it’s undeniable that some people have inborn predispositions that later manifest as being further toward same sex attraction on the spectrum of attraction. That’s where cultural norms, life experience, trauma, etc come into play and cause or allow some people to make the unhealthy choice of adopting (and sticking with, after growing up) a lifestyle that acts as sort of a funnel which ends with them being fixedly “gay”.

Our particular society has gone so far as to laud this lifestyle to the extent that anyone who is ambiguous at all and who isn’t part of a more traditional subset is encouraged/pushed into homosexual choices.
