This is a good question, as new research definitely shows mask doesn’t work
Fauci, and many others were absolutely adamant that masks were a waste of time in like Feb/March of 2020. They didn't just pull that out of their asses. They were aware of EXTENSIVE research for DECADES on the subject.
But, suddenly, it became political to want to have masks and what these people had KNOWN for frickING DECADES was overcome by a couple of extremely flimsy "maybe" kinda studies done in about 5 fricking minutes.
Morons said, "well, it was a new virus so we learned"...blah blah blah. The virus was new. Masks aren't.

Does research support 100% efficacy?
No. Not remotely.
If we want to extend the proposition to improper mask use, any effectiveness wanes.
