That team was good as shite

9-0 on the road in the SEC

It was one of those games that we saw far too often under Wade where a good LSU team would go on the road against a terrible opponent and lay and egg. That wasn't a particularly good Missouri team. But LSU didn't play any defense that night and allow Mizzou to control the game for 38 minutes. It was frustrating because LSU had just worked their way back into to the top 25...and was about to suffer a loss to a bad team.

Mays was great in regulation. Smart was great in OT. But one guy who gets overlooked was Emmitt Williams. He, as a freshman, was at the line with 2.0 left with LSU down one. He missed the first FT. Then, hit the second LSU had to have to tie the game. That team was incredibly tough at the end of games. That's why the didn't lose a single SEC road game.

That was a trademark of Wade's teams. They never gave up. I can't recall how many times they would get down 10-15+ points and always pull back at the end to make it a game - usually pulling it out. You can always question why they got down in the first place as you stated which happened far too often, but his teams had 0 quit in them regardless of the situation.

I watched the YouTube highlights of the Mizzou comeback a few months ago. Mizzou was shell shocked at the end. Fun fact - Mizzou had a Freshman named Xavier Pinson coming off the bench that year and who also had a turnover during that comeback stretch.

There was another road win earlier that year at Miss St. where we got down 10+ in the first half and ended up winning at the end on a Naz Reid jumper which hit the front of the rim and bounced up and went in. I was at that game and the MSU fans were not happy.
