Germantown or Collierville are the safest adjacent towns.

Westin near Beale or The Peabody if work is downtown and Beale is your intended afterhours scene.

Hilton Memphis or Embassy if near Poplar and 240.

Restaurants and bars near all of those inside Memphis city limits. Traffic is shite, because nobody there knows how to drive.

Lived and worked there 8 years. Not there now. Happier too.

The Memphian, in Overton Square. It is in Midtown and you'll be in walking distance to bars and restaurants.

The lack of traffic in Memphis is one of the best parts of living here

I’ll say it… Memphis ain’t THAT bad for short stays if you have any common sense. Yeah, the vast majority is a total shite hole, and you should not go there, but the places suggested in this thread within Memphis proper are perfectly fine.

Downtown: Westin, Peabody, Hotel Napoleon.

Midtown, The Memphian is the best option. It’s only a couple blocks right in there to do much and eat, but strong options nonetheless.

It may not be bumper to bumper, but Memphis has so many crazy bad drivers to make a trip to Lott's BBQ tough sledding.
Plus, you get those annual ice storms which Mephidiots ignore; speeding and sliding thru interchanges more frequently than normal.
Lived in C'ville, worked near the Coors brewery. Saw and experienced plenty of Cracker-Jack licensed drivers.

I would suggest Germantown or Collierville. There are some nice places to eat and fairly safe hotels.

Honestly it doesn't bother me a bit to stay downtown. A lot of gentrification. Westin, Peabody are super nice. I forget the one across Union from the ballpark, stayed there last year and it was nice.

The memphian is great

Cooper Young area

Porch and Parlor next door (get the bacon flight)

Lots of other restaurants and bars nearby

ETA: get reservations at Tiger and Peacock at the top of the memphian. We stayed there New Years weekend

Depending on where you are working.

Southhaven, MS would be an option.
