I am retired and do some painting on the side. I am trying to decide how much to charge a friend for some painting on their rental house. I did the following: painted the ceiling in a bathroom, scrubbed 2 sets of cement steps and a landing then painted them, painted 2 outside doors & painted 3 iron railings.
Is $500 too much?

How long did it take to do all that?? I think $500 sounds fair.

Did you pay for supplies? I would charge 50 an hour plus supplies.

How big was the ceiling? Are you trying to charge fair market value or a friend rate?
If he hired someone it would at least be $1000 I'd think.

I’d go by the hours plus supplies.

for a friend I would charge $35/h + materials. For a rando probably $50/h
