Croatia - Spring

Going to Dubrovnik, Croatia this spring and looking for somewhere to stay. I have been told Old town is the best place to stay. Does anyone have any specific details on places they have stayed or recommend in this area?

We stayed in an airbnb in Old Town and really enjoyed being so close to everything. Old Town is very crowded with tourists during the day but after about 9pm, they all clear out and we had Old Town to ourselves. This was 15 years ago so not sure its still this way. Try to have a drink at Buzza Bar which has outdoor seating built into a cliff overlooking the water. There is also a little island called Lokrum just about 1/4 mile off shore that has a ferry that runs to it. We went to a beach over there and there weren't many people there. There is also a nude beach over there but they require full nudity and my wife wasn't up for being bottomless so we skipped that.

I just booked an AirBnB in old town for April. Definitely think that will be the best location. There's some great options available with everything close.

We stayed in Old Town in a place next to the Dubrovnik Cathedral. It was a great location, pretty quiet, and just off the main tourist paths.
Be mindful to look at the reviews of places for complaints from warm weather/summertime renters re noise from nearby nightclubs.

I can't say how crowded it is now as I went during COVID in 2021 so they were down well off their usual. Only downside to Old Town Dubrovnik is it really isn't a town anymore, so it's more like a museum than a living place if that makes sense. Still pretty cool.
I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior which was cool since the view of Old Town was outside my balcony every day.
I'll also say it's a mistake to not visit Plitvice National Park if you go. Many people fly directly to Split and head to the islands/South from there and skip it, or do a four hour roundtrip day trip from Split which also seems a bit much.
If you can drive a stick shift, renting a car and driving is easy to do. I flew into Zagreb and drove down the coast and flew out Dubrovnik.
I thought Omis was a cool little town south of Split to stop for a few hours. More if you're into adventure sports apparently.

I should have done a trip review, but the wife and I did an 11 day trip this past August.
Arrived in Split -
Split - 2 nights - Hotel Marul
Hvar - 3 nights - Devecchi Rooms
Korcula - 1 night - Hotel Marko Polo
Dubrovnik - 4 nights - Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera
I went the opposite route and stayed outside Old Town and loved it...it was like a 20 minute drive to old town.
If you want any recommendations letting me know.
