Everyone knows Kobe and Pau were teammates.
Everyone knows they won championships together.
Not everyone knows that since Kobe’s death Pau has taken every opportunity to be there for Kobe’s daughters.
Pau and his wife are there for holidays, and major life events.
This week Pau was there for Natalia’s birthday, and they went golfing.

Kobe always had love for his Spaniard. When shite got rough at around 2010, Pau was one of the few that Kobe trusted along with D Fish and Metta World Peace

Pau and Marc both are really good people. Do a lot of good in the community and never seek the attention for it.

Pau with less hair is something I’d have to get used to.

I think Kobe’s time growing up in Europe gave him an unusual connection to European players. He and Dirk always had a special relationship, despite being Western Conference adversaries throughout their careers.

In that picture, he looks just like the dude that played Jaqen H'ghar on Game of Thrones.

I liked him better in Stranger Things.

pau gasol is under appreciated historically.
kobe, pau, odom, artest, bynum, fisher, and shannon brown were a lot of fun to watch back then.

Before he got out of Memphis, Pau went through similar scrutiny for not getting out of the first round as Kevin Garnett went through for most of his time at Minnesota. People that didn't watch their games all season to know they were mostly playing by themselves. During his career, he was a top five foreign player. I'd say, in order, Dirk, Nash, Pau, Tony Parker and Ginobili were the top five foreign guys for that era.
His international upbringing was good for Kobe. He wasn't a typical straight out of high school kid. He spoke five languages fluently. His first game vs. the Mavs, he did an interview with a Japanese TV crew after he'd finished taking questions from the English speaking reporters.

Yep. He was the #2 guy on a team that won back to back championships. I feel like he doesn’t get the notoriety/stature that’s typically associated with that

That trade will always be an incredible NBA what if. As a Rockets fan I remember being stoked about getting Pau because I always liked him

The Pau and Nene twin towers. What could’ve been.

That Pau/Kyle Lowry tandem would have been something in the short term. Not good enough to be a true title contender obviously but it’s always interesting to think about

True friend that sticks closer than a brother. That is real love.

Dirk and Pau had a great relationship too, as you can see from this 2015 Tweet.
Gasol sent these two tweets consecutively:
Today I’ll be playing my 1000 #RegularSeason game & I wanna celebrate with you! Upload a video with your favorite play of the ones I’ve made
… in any regular season game. You can be as creative as you like… There’s a prize for the best video! Use #Pau1000
Dirk replied with the link to this YouTube video and "#pau1000 congrats".

He was also in med school before he started focusing solely on basketball. His mom is a doctor.
