The Saints gave the Bengals 2 of their core players for nothing

Letting Bell and Hendrickson walk out the door for reasonable contracts is just another in a long list of frickups that have brought us to where we are today. Completely happy with mediocrity.

Go back and read the forum posts on him. Nearly everyone wanted him gone because he’s probably a flash in the pan, probably including yourself. Of course I wanted to keep him.
You’re also the most annoying little bitch on this website

You’ll never see me not back Hendrickson. I wanted to keep him and say frick Davenport.

I see you joined in 2022 so that’s convenient

All the way to another Super Bowl.
Clueless as the Saints front office and Ownership

Saints signaled they were opting to keep a young offensive core when they extended Thomas and Kamara in back to back seasons to squeeze what they could out of a waning Brees. Thomas can't stay healthy, Brees retired, and Kamara hasn't been the same without them.
No surprise we let many of our younger already developed defensive players walk or gave them away for nothing. We made our bed and now we watch many of them continue to develop and make plays in the playoffs.

We couldn’t afford to keep Hendrickson. And we had Davenport who was on a rookie deal. Hendrickson was leaving and nothing we could do would stop that.
I would have liked to keep Bell somehow. I think they thought Jenkins and Williams were the best bet to get Drew a shot at the Super Bowl. Long term best bet would have been to keep Bell and Jenkins, and let CJGJ move to FS once Jenkins retired. Short term thinking vs. long term thinking.
Worst decision is keeping Peat around. I don’t understand that one at all.

The Peat and Thomas contracts are the main reasons we are where we are, plus Brees coming back one year too long and leaving us dead money seasons after he was gone. They could have absolutely brought Hendrickson back if they hadn’t handed Peat that extension the year before. And Bell was one of the most underrated box safeties in the league. He wasn’t a big asset in the pass game but what he did well he did very well. He signed for as team friendly of a contract as there you will find. Malcolm Jenkins was a Sean guy though so that one is at least on him. Kamara can still at least maybe earn some of that contract but he has to have a play caller more imaginative than Pete and he’s got to have a good young power back to compliment him that is on a cheap rookie deal. Someone like Tank Bigsby in the 4th round. We were at our best when we had 2 power guys rotate with each other in Chris Ivory and Khiry Robinson.

Not true

Bell should have been retained. They instead signed Jenkins for a bigger contract than they would have paid him. And Jenkins ended up being a BLM bitch. Hendrickson couldn't have been signed. He was headed for a huge payday we couldn't afford.

Had to keep Brees going and stacking up his dead money

Absolutely. Carries have been up and targets/catches have been way down relative to his first 4 years in the league because we've relied on him as a starting running back as opposed to an elite satellite player.
We need a young complementary back to eat about 30% of his ground work. I like Bigbsy and would also love Zach Evans, Dewayne McBride, or Zach Charbonnet. Want my RB2 to be 215+.

at the time, it was either hendrickson or marcus williams (both were projected to cost 12-15mil).
we lost both.
that's the part that hurts, we'd be fine without hendrickson if we had kept a top 5 safety.

Wtf are you talking about? Everybody on here and other sites wanted him back. The mismanagement of the salary cap made it an impossibility to afford him.

Letting Hendrickson go was a mistake, but a more defensible one from the front office’s perspective.
Letting von bell go was really stupid. Letting him go to replace him with old man Jenkins is a giant whiff. Bell and Williams were a perfect complimentary safety pair and should have been kept together through the term of Williams’ contract.

Give me and Hendrickson and Bell for the cost of what Williams got more or less.
