Why are there Federal Taxes AT ALL? In ANY form? The Fed Gov would be fine without them!

Current debt > $31T and that's before unfunded mandates.
Annual budgets run at more than twice current tax revenue.
It's clear that the Federal government doesn't actually need taxes to continue running. It would be like me somehow owning a $500K car while living in a $3M home and vacationing all the time and then telling you, "many, I really got to get to my job stocking shelves at Home Depot. The difference between having the job and just sitting on my arse is negligible in that situation.
As near as I can tell, Federal taxation has nothing whatseover to do with funding the government. It is 100% a vehicle for manipulating people.
ETA: My basic point here is, from the perspective of the government continuing operations, would it even be noticable if Federal Taxation went to zero? I don't get the impression that it would even be a bump in their road. Hell, they could pass a 2 year tax amnesty and it wouldn't really look that different on the balance sheet. LOL

Because the kingmakers in Washington DC say they can.
Once the North beat the South, the Fed Gov had nothing in it's way from extorting freedom and wealth from Americans.

At this point it is more about control than anything else...

I agree. They just print what they want anyway. Why steal from me after you just debased my currency

Honest question how was the fed funded pre income tax? Did states remit set amounts to fund defense?

That is how the Swamp works. Reward people who vote by stealing from people who work.

Mainly tariffs and excise taxes...

The power to tax is the power to destroy. (McCulloch vs Maryland) They will never give that up. The IRS is being wielded as a weapon. Why do you think they are hiring 87,000 more agents (armed).
Maybe they can print money as easily as taxing but without any backing at all eventually no one will accept it as the fiat currency.

Repeal the 16th, as it violates the 13th.

You should not pay them...at all
What could go wrong? Be a sovereign citizen
it will end well for you

You have zero understanding on government funding, probably have no idea what a budget is, even your own.
Income Taxes from the citizenry is now forever.
Tariffs are paid by the consumer; you know the buyer of foreign goods. Which means American citizens.
Saint Ronnie did away with tariffs and no one in the world followed the US. He made America weaker on that policy.

Yeah, too bad, huh? We could still have slaves, no air conditioning and be riding horses.

There have always been taxes by the Feds, but in the form of tariffs on imported goods, and taxes on whiskey.

The POINT of the OP is that Income Tax revenue has become completely uncoupled from actual Federal spending.
If they are just gonna "create" the money they need to do what they want, then taxes really aren't necessary at all.
If I made 30K per year but somehow, had an unlimited ability to go into further debt along with an unlimited ability to give myself money that came from nowhere, why would I even go to work? My 30K wouldn't really be doin shite

I see the point of this whole thread went right over your fricking head. The physical shackles and chains are no longer present, but all taxpayers have their labor extorted from them.
And as for the AC and horses, we are well on our way back to that.

That is a DAMNED FINE book! I have an autographed copy of that one as well as the second one they wrote: Why Not Freedom
Both are excellent reads and fully supported by reliable sources cited throughout. The two books ought to be included as required reading in the syllabus of freshman level courses in Constitutional Law and Political Science. Very well reasoned, and very well written.
Side note: Authors are from Laurel, Mississippi if I recall correctly.

In a 1945 speech before the American Bar Association, New York Federal Reserve bank chairman Beardsley Ruml plainly stated, "Taxes for revenue are obsolete."
His point was that a sovereign currency issuer no longer requires taxes for spending purposes.
