Hotrods was always great, but Dowlings was the best BBQ in my opinion. When they were in that little shack on Cooktown Rd. where the Hobby Lobby is now.

I loved Dowling’s before it was on Cooktown. It was in a tiny little buildings off north service road near Commerce Street, NW corner of 33 and I20, sort of west of the new gas travel center. Seems like maybe in their front yard as there was a brick house behind it. Somehow didn’t seem the same when it moved to Cooktown. I think maybe that was after the original Mr. Dowling retired or passed away.
