Show definitely wasn’t garbage. It was an entertaining twist on the Addams Family with a focus on Wednesday

It was a cw quality show that might have been a little better, I just don't get the praise at all.

I guess people are yearning for nostalgia and that gets it a pretty good boost.

It's par for me to not like mainstream shite though sometimes. Judging by 20 down votes and 0 upvotes, looks like this board has a consensus on it.

I just thought it was not near as good as people are making it out to be.

It's a mediocre show thats getting a ton of praise because it's slightly better than most of the newer shite out there

Spoilers:

I caught the handler in the first episode from the mud on her boots. I didn’t know who the monster was, though.

Well…yeah. It’s not an all-time great show, but in an era where Hollywood and entertainment are basically shitting all over themselves constantly, a decent and entertaining show stands out looking like a f$&king masterpiece. It’s nowhere near as good as “Andor”, “Cobra Kai”, or “House of The Dragon”, but think carefully about every season of tv released in 2022. How many remotely comedic shows had a season better than Season 1 of “Wednesday”? Not very many.

What does that have to do with anything? Fester, Pugsley and Lurch were all fairly well spot on. Morticia was adequate, yet Gomez was so far off of what most were expecting. He stood out like a sore thumb.

Jenna Ortega is fantastic and likeable.

Someone said it’s the show the CW thinks they’re making with all their teen dramas.

Lol, i love this show but it really does feel like someone pitched a generic YA mystery show and Netflix was like “can you attach some preexisting IP to get people To watch?”

My daughters and I laughed through the entire series at how often she was WRONG about things.

Did it remind you of any given day on the PTB?

Preexisting IP is tight.

To be fair, I expected her to be super awesome at every single thing, but she did lose a fencing match, and she is the world’s worst detective. Every single guess was wrong, and then when she figured out who it was based on a vision, she completely bungled the confrontation.

I felt like this show started as a fan fiction of “What if the Adams Family went to Hogwarts?”

I do fear they will add storylines to the next season that aren't necessary. Mainly Ortega saying in an interview that Enid and Wednesday should be in a relationship.

“The shows called Ravenmore and it’s about an American school for monster kids, and there are different houses. It focuses on a kid detective!”

“Not interested”

“What if we made the kid Wednesday Addams and hired a hot actress to play her?”

“Yes Please”

I really liked this show. And let me tell you why.

The actress owned Wednesday. She didn’t try to “make it her own” or any other BS we hear from other actors. She clearly played the best Wednesday she could, and didn’t try to make her a sassy Latina Wednesday or anything else. She appreciated the existing character and played the frick out of it.

Another thing I liked about Wednesday was that she wasn’t a Mary Sue. She lost at fencing; she is clearly brilliant and writing her detective novels, but her actual detective skills were pretty bad.

So potential some casting stuff (not confirmed but rumored):

Angelica Huston will play Nevermore’s new Principal in Season 2.

Joan Cusack has also been cast in a significant role.
