Charleston baws, anything I need to know about assimilating, let's hear it.

Charleston has the carefree southern sophisticate ambiance New Orleans did at points in the past. King St is not Michigan Ave by any stretch, but it is charming, as is the city. The history here is phenomenal. Tons of local festivals. The water is a bit warmer than Lake Michigan's. Flanking island beaches to the north and south are remarkably quiet in off-seasons .

You're gonna need a bay boat with a t-top and a dodge ram.

Looking at either The Caroline or Elan Midtown, so if you have any perspective on either of those would love to hear it. Basically coming down to a choice between walking distance to all the action (Elan) and views, quiet, and older crowd (Caroline)...I'm 44, she's 40.

I want to come down because I desire the type of "backward" the region offers

Be ready to sniff your own farts. The smugness of folks in Charleston is off the charts.

What part of Chicago are you currently living? I usually stay at my friends place in the South Loop.

City. We're a little south and little west of Wrigley. I will certainly miss walking up for Cubs games in the summer and being able to run to the lake and beach, but I can come back for all that. shite. We can come rent a place here for a month in August.

That's in the "couple year" plan.

Be white. Don’t litter. Keep Charleston from becoming Savannah.

My daughter lives there . It is hot and humid in the summer. It's nice and green. Live by the water if you can.

The Caroline or Elan Midtown

The Caroline is a little bit from the true downtown but isn't a bad area at all.

Elan is closer to downtown but still not walking distance.

I would chose Caroline but don't think either is going to upset you. A good bit of events at the park by thy Caroline and the minor league baseball team is next door as well. It is a nice place to see a game. Bill Murray (Chicago connection) is part owner and has a resturant that he hangs out in about 4 miles away.

Buy it before you get married so the bitch can't take it from you later.

Besides, there's only so many bars and restaurants you can sit and drink in before you get bored after six months. You'll want to be out there, in all that water. Making water friends. Getting invited to fish fry's and bbq's and oyster roasts and whatnot. Eventually you'll find yourself wanting nothing to do with downtown charleston. And it will happen sooner than you think.

Lived in Ravenswood for exactly one year until this past summer. Great neighborhood and really friendly family. But there was a double murder outside of my daughters $490 a week daycare. Frick Chicago
