All I can say is holy shite. Amazing movie. Cant believe it took me almost 10 years to watch.

That film is phenomenal. I'm glad people are still discovering it. Denis Villeneuve is a master.

Hugh Jackman was so great in that movie.

Fantastic movie. One of those that is great the first time and hard to watch the second time. Had me on the edge of my seat the entire movie.

Villeneuve + Deakins + Johannsson + Sheridan was the quartet that made Sicario as memorable as it was (probably my favorite movie of the last 10 years), and all except Sheridan did work on Prisoners too. I had been waiting for a 4K release of this, but it's been a few years now and when I heard it was on Netflix I just settled on the standard HD stream.
I had very high expectations. But it didn't quite grab me the same way that Sicario did. I chalk it up almost entirely to the screenplay. The movie doesn't quite know what it wants to be--character study or suspense or horror or mystery or drama. Of the four names I mentioned up there I believe Sheridan's screenplay was the weakest part of Sicario, but compared to this I might've been giving Sheridan less credit than he deserved. Sicario doesn't suffer from an identity crisis like Prisoners does.
Prisoners is a very pretty movie to look at, and I did enjoy it, but I was hoping for better. Maybe the subject matter just depresses me too much. Maybe it deserves a second viewing to see how everything ties together again. The big reveal isn't really that clever but the last few scenes were very intense (Loki driving in the rain, aside from being legit scary, was just gorgeous to watch).
I will say that it doesn't feel as long as its runtime (153 minutes). And I loved the perspective from inside the shower. Big creepiness there. Johannsson's score didn't overbear.

Enjoyed the movie. Very graphic. Makes me wonder regardless of the crime if I could ever torture another human. Hard to watch at times.

That movie came out prior to me being married or having a daughter. I couldn’t imagine how I would feel watching that now.

The ride in the cop car near the end is one of the most harrowing scenes I’ve watched
It’s a top 25ish movie for me

Just finished a rewatch of Prisoners after originally seeing it several years ago. So excellent. For obvious reasons, it hits much different now with 3 kids!
