Is psychology a science?

Are there laws that govern this science?

I really don't know.

Asking for myself.

No. It's mostly all BS IMO. Most of the money that flows through this field is government money so they're just another puppet on a string just like education.

What issue is that?

I love politics but don't understand the science.

I can understand trends though.

I’ve thought about this before… kinda weird to consider.

All of these “mental disorders” people have… they could all be completely fabricated. Schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, amnesia, etc. We just take people’s word for it. Kinda wild.

The study of human behavior certainly is real.

Lots of junk science in the interpretations though. I see lots of BS in "real" science too. People want to create and not discover... so it leads to biased research.

As somewhat of a scientist myself (B.S., Accounting), I think there is absolutely science to the human mind beyond chemistry. I'm just not sure the profession is doing it the best way possible and seems to be trending to activism.

I think it’s real science but it’s been hijacked by fat cat lady professors in college.

Right. All those Bunson burner assignments in chem 1 lab where we had to prove and duplicate something in a lab setting.

What does the science of psychology prove in their psychology labs?

Multiple personality disorder is BS, but schizophrenia has objective observable symptoms.

I believe this. But this could get into the neuro pathways and physiology of the brain.

An actual science, right?

Psychology takes the hard science and applies it to human conditions.

Some of the best math came from finance or economics minds.

Absolutely. Psychologists and psychiatrists study the neurobiology of illnesses like schizophrenia and mood disorders.

As far as behavior is concerned, a person could make you observe anything they wanted you to, right? I think that’s the issue I can’t really reconcile.

No, psychologists have some legitimate testing they perform for diagnostic purposes including testing that can weed out "fakers."
