Am I remembering wrong, or wasn't Vince Young viewed as somewhat of an underachiever or overhyped until his senior season?

a. He didn't play a "senior season". He left after his RS Jr. year.
b. His coming out party was in the Rose Bowl v. Michigan following the 2004 season, which was his first starting.

It was actually mack brown and Texas that was viewed as perennial underachievers and unable to get past Oklahoma. Sfp is correct that the rose bowl against Michigan was his coming out party. I believe Texas was shutout by Oklahoma that same year.
