I'm not a dog person, but all three cats we've owned have come from breeders. You always have to pay more if you intend to breed. We just want a good kitty. Pet quality kittens are usually $1000 and up, depending on the breed. We have a ten week old Scottish Fold kitten. He was $2000. Worth the money because you know what kind of pet you are getting. Our little dude is awesome so far. It's a roll of the dice scooping up some random parking lot cat for a pet.
