Is it uncomfortable dating a widow. Mainly, if it was a good marriage, would you worried about being compared to someone that you can’t “compete” with?
My wife ( no pics she's 50 ) is a widow. She never brings him up. Never compares.
As a husband I acknowledge the marriage but I don't give it life. We do things together that we have in common.
She is the most compassionate, kind caring person I have ever met.
Some advice, let her acknowledge his birthday and his day of passing without being insecure.

Lol. Let her acknowledge his birthday? Haha. It’s a dead person that she loved, not a pet.

Would be easier than dating a divorced person.

My wife (53 no pics) took care of her last husband while he died of cancer 15 years ago. Inspired her to change careers and become a nurse. When I first was getting to know her I'd wake up and check her shoulders for wings. She is a great person.
Some talk about women who talk about their ex's. All women are not the same. My wife rarely if ever talks about hers. It just depends on the woman. Choose wisely.
But like any relationship, you can't be insecure. If you are, you need to fix that first.
