i left the corporate world myself but shitting on it is so lame and reeks of jealousy/insecurity. it's really not that bad and every type of career has its pros and cons.

It being good or bad for you really, really hinges on the department you end up in and your manager. You have very little control over those things, if any at all. I did it for 8 years after college and I was so miserable the last two. It wasn’t out of jealousy or insecurity, it was out of frustration from working with a bunch of self-righteous morons that thought it looked good on their internal resume to work every Sunday afternoon. The day I turned my notice in was one of the best days of my life. 23 years later, I’m set to retire in a year or two. I gave up income potential, but I’ll be retired at 55 well before old age sets in and I can enjoy my retirement while my old co-workers are still stabbing each other in the back for a promotion.
