Sitting between some thinned pines and a 50acere patch of thicket created by ida. Scrapes and rubs everywhere.
Wind is not optimal, moon sucks, temp is high.
Anticipation and excitement level is off the chart our rut is fixing to bust open.

The only way I can get excited with these temps is during rut.
Ours a couple weeks away so I ain’t sitting in 80 degree temps

47 - unseasonably warm for us

Pretty good wind coming out of the northwest

Remington 700 in .243

25’ lock on overlooking a couple of game trails and a staging area when they go from woods into the field.

Good luck guys. I’m probably gonna sit out until Christmas week. All of activity has been at night . Hoping next weeks cold changes that .

Got the 6 year old for the evening hunt
This guy is definitely on a sugar high. Haha
He doesn’t know if he wants me to shoot if something comes out
He says he will let me know

Put out some wild game treat at a few places for this wknd and saw tons of rubs and fresh scrapes .
Lil ol girl is gonna hunt this wknd so trying to put her on a buck.

I headed home after my hunt. I’ll be back after Christmas for a few more hunts looking for horns.

Good news is we’ll have our place back for another 2.5 years. And they are moving the bids to the summer instead of mid hunting season. Gained an extra 200 acres too.
