Outboard motor help

I've got a 2018 Mercury 30 HP EFI 4-Stroke. For the last couple of weeks, I have to open the throttle to get it to start. Then I have to run it for a bit before I quick-shift it to neutral then forward. It runs great, and after it is really warm, it idles well. Any ideas what the issue is?

you fuel system is gummed up, when it warms up the heat softens the varnish and opens the passages.
go run a few tanks of fuel system cleaner through it and add it to the next 6-8 tanks after that to clean it out. also replace or clean the fuel filters

Run seafoam in non ethanol gas, and do it in every tank. 1oz per gallon gas. It's stabil plus fuel cleaner. Crank it and run. It will clean your carb and jets inside it.

I have a 2004 90 yamaha 2 stroke so a little different than what you have but I found that running non ethanol fuel to be a game changer. Normally, when running 10% eth fuel, its hard to start and wont idle without increasing idle speed.
Recently, I went with no ethanol and it runs like a top.
Run the sea foam with the no ethanol fuel.

I only run non-ethanol fuel in it, but I will change the filters and use the additive.
