It depends. Showing up with the flu to work at a restaurant? Absolutely an idiot.

Calling in sick so you can goof off, especially when other staff are doing that too? An idiot.

Showing up to work even though you have a headache or your back hurts? Neither an idiot nor a boot licker, it's called "being a responsible adult with at least an ounce of pride".
