Pefok, Sargent, Dike, the list goes on are all better than Ferreira.

2/3 were injured. I'll agree Pefok is better.

Reyna and Aaronson should be starters. Even if that means you have to sacrifice one of the midfield trio to fit Reyna in. I know Weah is great, but Aaronson not starting for us was criminal. He’s been class this season at Leeds. That’s 3.

That is pure opinion. I prefer the MMA midfield over forcing Aaronson in when he fits the super sub role perfectly. Gio should have started at RW with Weah at the 9.

Sure Dest is ok at rb but he’s arse on defense. He has played 90 minutes for Milan once this season. Scally is playing consistent 80+ minutes every week for a top half bundesliga club

Dest was one of our best players and played consistently at a La Liga and now Serie A club. Again completely subjective take. Scally should have been subbed on at RB in the earlier games.

That wasn’t our best xi

Outside of 2 positions that were heavily impacted by injury the only other changes are totally subjective. The 11 Gregg threw out there were arguably the best 11 available.

Even taking your argument, OP is saying that there are just 11 more athletes in the US who could beat the 11 from the Netherlands game and that is absolutely ludicrous.

We are never going to go very far if we have to use 9-10 MLS players every World Cup.

Dest was amazing this tournament outside of the knockout game.

Weah was also amazing. I don't know if you noticed Gio not playing ANY defense in the second half of the game on Sat. Which means he cannot be relied upon to play as one of the 8s in a 433; replacing Weah or Christian are the only options if you are going to play everyone in their preferred positions. I don't necessarily disagree that Weah out wide was the best decision for this team as he has been too good for us out wide. Christian was also our best attacking player in the tournament.
Aaronson gets manhandled when he has played in teh middle for the US. You saw that against the Dutch and Iran when he came in. He cannot progress the ball the way our 8s need to and is better out wide as well.

So four players for 2 spots. Someone has to sit.

I have to agree. He was one of the bright spots until he shite the bed in the knockout game. Not sure what his deal was then.

My thought was the first thing that goes as you start to tire is the mental sharpness. Happened with Ream and Jedi on the third goal. And that half second is all that the Dutch needed; or the 6 seconds Dumfries was alone in the box on the 3rd goal.

Well I would say we didn’t start our 11 best every game.

But there is a lot more that goes into that. If all your best players are forwards, well they can’t all play all the time.

The problem with netherlands is, your best players also let you down switching off defensively, not tracking their runner in the box.

Was it the Iran game we didn’t start a single mls player for the first time? I believe it was.

So we went further with more mls players in 2002.

At one point the only goal scored against us was by an mls player.

The real issue is by the time you are drafted into the mls, a player like Saka has already started 100 games for Arsenal and already played in a Euros.

So our players have to go somewhere else while younger to get the top level games at a younger age.

The problem is in the US system. It’s a bunch of country club boys with rich families that basically pay to play. It’s not about actual talent and potential. There are some very good players on the team, but it’s not about winning or getting the best it’s about the corrupt system there to make money and let kids’ parents buy them a spot.

The Womens team isn’t any better in that regards, but since the rest of the work’s didn’t and still doesn’t really give a shite about Womens soccer, they win.

Bruh, you could pick up a bunch of mexicans playing soccer at the local field and put together a team. Then they could cut the grass and paint the fields after the games.
