Blackstone griddle

Thinking about getting a Blackstone griddle and contemplating one with or without the hood. It will be in a covered area so getting wet is not a concern. Mostly curious does anyone ever cook with the hood in the closed position.

Get the hood just to keep dew/debris off of it. The hood can't handle the temperature, never put it on when the griddle is hot.

I love mine. It has the hood but we don't cook with it down. If you want to cover your food, buy a couple of those tin turkey tubs. Very useful to cover the hash browns, then use to hold said hash browns, keep them warm, and serve with.

Have a hood and will occasionally drop the hood down especially if I’ve put a bit of water to steam.

Hood is just for storage after using. I would still get it even if covered by other structure.

After I cooked the other day, I put some water on the griddle while still hot and the actual griddle like warped and popped out of place. Am I doing something wrong?
ETA: after it cooled, it went back to original position and I popped it back in place.

Mine is under cover and I still cover the griddle when not in use. It helps for sure, before I would occasionally find bird feathers or worse on it.
