Actually if I was in a true self defense scenario I would use a hammer if I thought that was my only way out. Not its intended use, not a "self defense" weapon, but I wouldn't be mad at getting out of a situation with it.

Well the OP asked about self defense spray for some females. Not sure how many women are going to want to lug around a hammer or a can of wasp spray.
Honestly, I like my feet first because I can run away from most bad situations but when the SHTF I personally prefer my knife in a close quarters situation but would really prefer not to get that close. You know that old saying about bringing a knife to a gun fight? On a complete hi-jack of an already derailed thread, our head BJJ instructor is a huge knife fighting guy so we drill knife fighting a lot on off days where it is just instructors doing dumb shite. We train with rubber knives obviously. I will say this, knife fighting does wonders for hand speed and those fricking rubber knives still hurt like hell, but you aren't getting shredded like a steak at Benny Hanna's either.
