Most businesses are not gonna pay their employees a wage that would get quality people in those spots who are loyal and happy to be there. If businesses started doing that, you would have awesome service and great employees working
This is true.
If you want good service, expect to pay more.

Self check outs are awesome. I’m faster than the people who work there. Plus I don’t have to tell them not to bag the ground meat with a toothbrush.
I don't mind using self checkout, but if they expect people to use these then they all should have the handheld scanner option and a bagging area that is bigger than 15" x 15".

We can go to chain pharmacy that has one employee working and half of their shelves empty, or we can go to the local pharmacy that's only open bankers hours and charges 3x as much.
I recently made the conscious decision to never go in Walgreens again. I now get prescriptions at the local place. Pricing has not been any different and RX ready within the hr.

Local groceries around me are well run (all 3). The Winn Dixie and Rouses always has some bs going on.
No kidding
Majoria and C's are great pharmacies and less expensive than Walgreens, etc. Nicer group. Majoria is efficient as hell.
Langenstein's, Dorignac's, Zuppardo's 10xs better than chain stores.

Agreed. They don't have the little spinning bagging deal at the self checkout. Also, why have so many empty registers if you are pushing more people to bag their own stuff?
The Target by me probably has 20 registers and usually 15 are closed at any given time.

You're still dealing with the dregs of society.
All workers at fast food I have encountered have been high school students.

The idea that minimum wage teens worked harder in the past is a joke.

You're talking about businesses keeping staff low to make a better profit, and that aint exclusive to the south.
And yet, I've been to 10 states this year, all across the country, and none of them have these issues.

You go from being a nuisance to someone who is treated with respect
Yup.
Except at Popeyes. They treat you badly everywhere.

Try 6-8 months (and not even in Louisiana)
This is a pratice with 5 docs and 2 NPs.
Yet I needed to change pediatricians (again, retirement) and I got an appt within 3 days.

I bet Houston is better
One of the reasons we left H-Town was because F that commute every day.
But... these days if I could live in the burbs and only go the office one or two days a week? I would highly consider that.

What were the appointments for? There's a big difference between "My wife needs to set up a new primary" and "My kid is sick."
You also conveniently chose to bitch about the former in your OP while not mentioning the latter.

My wife's doc retired and I called my doctor practice to see if she could start over there. Three weeks for a new patient to be seen.
My Primary Care Physician kicked me off the patient list because I am healthy. I got the flu earlier this year, tried to make an appointment, they said since I hadn't been to the office in over two years I would be considered a new patient and they didn't have any openings for 3 weeks. I asked 'how they hell would that help me? I'm sick now" Response, "go to urgent care center" So basically I'm being punished for not being an unhealthy fat slob.

bullshite
I'm in the food business nationally. Had a meeting in Chicago a few weeks ago and had people there from all 50 states and Canada.
The #1 issue everywhere is labor. #2 product availability. #3 cost of goods. #4 profitability.
At least we don't have a boil water advisory.

I go to two different popeyes in San Antonio (neither is in a “nice” area) and the service is fine.

Is this about litter? Because Louisiana does have a big problem here. I suspect it's because people tend to toss crap into the bed of their pickup truck that eventually catches the wind and flies away.
Yup. Everywhere. People can't seem to make it to the trash can to throw something away.
Yes it's outside but also inside as well.
