Not sure if this was accidental or some kind of gang thing. Weird that it was in the backyard of a house in Metarie.

quote:

A man was killed in a shooting in the backyard of a Metairie home late Monday, Jefferson Parish authorities said.

The gunfire was reported to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office around 7:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Academy Drive (map).

When deputies arrived, they said they found a man on the ground in the backyard of a home on the block. He had been shot and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Wasn't he shot in his yard in Metry?

Most people go to Sonic when they have a disagreement with someone. But apparently in Jefferson Parish, they just shoot each other in their yards.

Would you consider the 3700 block of Academy Drive a “good” area of Metry?

Geography is just as important in these threads as a shooting in Nola East

It’s literally not.

This is very far from what is considered “Old Metairie”.

It’s not even in the same zip code.

Its not Bocage or Audubon Pl, but It’s not where I’d expect this kind of thing to happen.

You do know “Old Metairie” is a neighborhood South of I-10?
Old Metairie pre-dates the I-10. The interstate cut through Old Metairie when it was constructed.

It's on the wrong side of the West Esplanade canal, but it's a long way from what I'd consider to be a "bad" neighborhood.
