We never sealed the edge all night

even though Achane almost always went wide.
BJ (who I love) played his worst game and Gaye as well.

We also got no pressure on the QB and couldn’t stop the run. Perkins was completely shut down and didn’t have any impact on the offense. DBs could not cover receivers, other than that the defense was fine.

Also 23,30 and yes 40 were out of position all night!

We looked out of sorts on defense from the jump. I’m not completely surprised we lost, but how we lost. With so much on the line, I thought you’d see a very focused team and that never happened. We flirted with disaster in 3/4 road games this year and it finally bit us.

This was Matt House’s worst game. I don’t hold the Tennessee game against him, special teams were a joke that day. Last night was on him, and maybe that’s a good thing he can learn from and not have it happen next year (as opposed to him coaching elsewhere)

Yeah, I expected a lot more from our defense. Very disappointed in House and his lack of plan and adjustments

What is it with LSU not setting the edge? Is it the offense simply ran the right play against the defensive call or is it lack of fundamentals on the defensive ends? I played def end and I remember quite clearly how many laps I ran when I let a running back get around me. And it would have been twice as many if they hadn't been called for a penalty.

I really thought we were at our best with Perkins and Ogilari on the ends, but rarely saw that alignment. House seemed to try to hide Perkins, and maybe House tried moving him too much, as he thought they would key on him….Gaye was just terrible, no way to say it any better…However, Achane running it like he did, and their Offense controlling the line of scrimmage, were the real dagger, not to mention too many self inflicted issues and the drive killing drops from Lacey…

You would think a team made up of guys that hovered around 6-6 and a bunch of transfers that were from Louisiana would be playing sky high at this point. They should all be living on cloud 9.
The lack of urgency and intensity from this team last night is concerning.

Easily. Did not have his players ready and did not adjust to shut down Achane in the second half.

I was there…..
6 ran off left tackle at will. All night long.
No edge and arm tackling the best RB is SEC….. a recipe for a long night. …which it was!

I expect an answer to my brilliant question.

I noticed Penn and BJ having awful games. A&M gameplanned around not letting 40 beat them. They had designed calls depending on whether he spied (stay in the pocket and throw) or rushed (qb keep up the middle).
Their OL blew our DL 2 yards off the ball consistently and our LBers got ate up in the mud. Missed tackles at the second level against that caliber of RB are going to happen if he’s there constantly.
And ultimately every bounce and call went their way. Not to say we would have won if we had a few of those calls back or Lacy’s dropped passes, but you give a team that skilled hope and constant opportunities to stay in the game and you got the result.
Flush it, figure out a way to get the team fired up for the SECCG and go from there.

Bottom line - players didn’t execute. Everyone knew that Achane has world class track speed. The defense not setting the edge or being able to shed blocks and make first contact tackles resulted in #6 gashing the defense. One LSU defensive player showed up, Roy who had 12 tackles as no one else made an impact

D-Lime got absolutely whipped all night. Game was lost in the trenches. I was surprised to see 90,11,and 40 off the field as much as they were last night.
Told the obnoxious Aggie fans to enjoy their bowl game on the way out.

I was worried about it. A holiday week, coming off a sleepwalk game and probably heading into the game resting on your laurels thinking no way you would lose to a 4-8 team and Georgia looking.
This was the ultimate recipe for a letdown. Especially with a very talented opponent hungry for a big win in their last game of the season.
We aren’t at that level yet where we can win going through the motions like Georgia. We still have a roster with holes and a limited offense.
It was predictable what happened.

BJ did not set the edge good enough and Gaye is really bad! Gaye took a terrible angle on Young for Bama when he escaped and made the wide open throw. We had 2 guys around him and Gaye goes just 1 yard to the left = sack.
Back to A&M, a few times looked like Achane was going up the middle or left side, but jumped further out and BJ was too far inside. #6 played amazing and that is why we lost, plus JD5 did not throw the ball down the field.

Conversely Aggies would take our man down on contact.

We did seem to have a lot of soft landings. On the other hand Emery ran well.
Man what an ugly loss period.
The entire team played poorly at times when they couldn’t afford to. The fumble scoop and score was a killer. Never felt the same after.

The most frustrating part. Even when defenders were in perfect positron, Aggie made the miracle one handed catch. Literally everything went their way every single time.
