I have avoided PCP rifles for a couple reasons, and have beef very happy with the three rifles I have bought in the last few years. My favorite is my Sig Sauer piston one. Super accurate and very powerful. For the close range house sparrows I shoot, I actually prefer my Umarex Fusion 2. It's super cheap and CO2, which is really easy to deal with. I have been amazed at how accurate this cheap rifle can be.
If/when you buy, get multiple high rated pellets, as all three of mine like different ones. The difference in accuracy can be surprised. Fortunately, there are reviews for most popular models that can get you close on pellets.

Air Arms TX200 MkIII
Mine's .22 cal, walnut stock, bluing is perfect. It's a tack driving heirloom with a sweet trigger. 650fps range and very quiet.
