Yes and the amendment that was agreed to in this bill helps protect against that. The hypothetical consequences you’re talking about aren’t related to this bill and in fact, are already possible even without this bill.

You do not think putting interracial marriage and gay marriage right beside each other will have long term consequences? This isn’t about forcing churches to comply. That’s a longer game. This is about making it easier to come down on individual Christian business owners as well as church adjacent organizations. If this wasn’t the democrats intent they would have had no issue with the Lee amendment.

what benefit does a church obtain through tax exempt status. I have never known a for profit church. Almost all consider themselves successful if income matches cash outflow. so it's not an organization income tax credit of any consequence.

Very few donors give enough to have an impact on their personal tax return, so there would seem to be little tax exempt status purpose there

Church staff all get w-2's and have to file their own returns .

Why does a church want tax exempt status?
