Much better place for this than the SEC Rant.
Yeah I know that Auburn job isn't open yet but these are all high-profile Southeastern Positions. But how high-profile? On a scale of 1-10 for instance, it could possibly look something like:
Tennessee - 9.5
Auburn - 8.5
Clemson - 8

Clemson should be at the top or at least tied.
SEC is just freaking scary the ACC, not so much.

I'd reverse that, make Auburn an 8 also.

Tennessee is the best job by far. Auburn is soon to be playing second fiddle in their own state to another SEC team.
Clemson has the best shot at being a national power soon. The Carolinas are a hotbed for talent and the roster is already pretty talented. Plus, shitty conference.
Tenn - 8
Clemson - 7.5
AU - 7

ut-9
au-8.5
clemson-8
this is just based on fan support, recruiting, and $$$, and prestige.
clemson is obviously the easier job though b/c it's in the acc.
ut can be a great job if you can recruit nationally. with a young and energetic coach i think they can do that.

Clemson>Tenn>Aub
Why would you want to coach in the SEC right now? You can also win big at Clemson. They have a fan base, money and some history.

The thing that makes a coach successful is ego. A great coach will always want to coach against the greatest.

I agree with you that most great coaches are super arrogant, but choosing Tenn over Clemson just seems retarded.
Petrino - great coach, you can already see a noticable difference in Arky from the beginning of the year
Saban - Bama fans expect to win the division every year now
Miles - LSU fans expect to win the division every year
Tubs - might get axed, but he's a damn good coach who's hard to beat
Nutt - will have Ole Miss winning ~7-9 games regularly imo
Richt - very good coach who has won 2 SECC
Meyer - great coach
Spurrier - still a solid coach, USC is no pushover with him there
You can win a NCG at Clemson, get paid well, and be in the spotlight. It seems like an obvious choice to me. Expectations at Tenn are super high and only 1 team can win the SEC. FUlmer just got canned a year removed from winning the division, why subject yourself to that?

Clemson is the most appealing to coaches.
You need to read Sextons articule on coaching jobs.
SEC Jobs = no interest anymore.

The Carolinas and surrounding states are a hotbed of talent (Virginias, Northern GA, etc)

My buddy in Knoxville says that everyone up there is talking about Pete Carroll for UT.
They think its a top 5 job...Top 20 job, maybe top 15.
