That ran a saloon and killed strangers that came to town.
The song is pretty dark.... starts off about a stranger coming to town, went to the saloon and bought a drink to cool him down. The waitress proceeds to tell the guy she's lonely and if the candle is lit in her window that night, then the hubby is away he can come on in. Well he shows up and goes in the house then the lyrics go something like "Three silhouettes, then there were only two, another mound of dirt and now they number twenty two" The song finishes with another stranger comes to town, and the waitress and the hubby taking their place, to repeat as necessary.

Google the lyrics you know followed by the word lyrics and that might help you ID it.

I think it's "Achy Breaky Heart".

Lol it's definitely not Billy Ray, the singer sounded like Jeff Carson. Coming up with nothing on the lyrics so I must be off on them and just remembering the gist of it.

that's "jack and dianne"
you're welcome
you're welcome

Lol another nope. I guess the music archives scrubbed the lyrics so modern kids don't find the song and turn out like me.

I don't know the song, but I love the idea.
Country music has to expand ideas.
Country music has to expand ideas.

Going back to Jimmie Rodgers, country music has always had dark songs about killing.

Yeah, but in the last 40 years, it got neutered, at least as far as what is allowed for guys to say.
A chick can say anything though.

Well, I followed her home and when she was alone
Well, I put my gun to her head
And I don't recall what happened next at all
But now that rich woman, she is dead
Well, I put my gun to her head
And I don't recall what happened next at all
But now that rich woman, she is dead

Really, I don't listen to much anymore.
I want to write un-influenced ,just let it come out.
Trying to keep up with trends is a losing game, you are always behind.
Just do what you do, and try to knock it out of the park.

So you're just running your mouth like an idiot.

No, you are verified retard, if you don't see the double standard, that I just pointed out.
Go ahead, pitch a song about poisoning your wife, let's see how that turns out for you... Goodbye Girl Maybe? Rhymes with GoodBye Earl.
Do a song about fricking up your girlfriend's vehicle for revenge. see how that works out for you.
I don't write those types of songs anyway. I try to be better.

You pointed out what an idiot you are. There are plenty of dark country songs recently. You seem to want to make this a diatribe against political correctness when you admit you don't listen to recent music anymore.

Name 1 major hit song, last 10 years on big country radio, about a guy getting rid of his crappy wife/ girlfriend. He always has to be sorry.
I'm not talking about your local small time crap.
If I wrote a song, about gassing all of my female in-laws, through the hairdryers at the beauty shop, what would happen with it?
Is that any different than Poisoning Earl's black-eyed peas?
I don't write songs like that, I can damn sure see the difference about what is allowed though.

so now it's the last 10 years rather than the last 40? You need to go to bed
So, you think things are the same as 40 years ago?
