re: Why Does Daniels Get Sacked So Much

He makes choice to run and it becomes binary. He takes a 1 or 2 yard sack (he doesn't really have the build to bounce off tacklers) OR he gets past that one guy and gets a chunk play. 1 or 2 yard sack usually isn't significant vs a wasted pass i.e. 2nd and 10 vs Second and 12. Reward is significant enough to take a shot at busting lose for big gain. Slow QB might only get 3 yards and not much chance for big play. So his speed running makes a "throw it away" play a bigger lost opportunity.

I'll take extra sacks versus carelessly throwing the ball and giving up interceptions

He holds the ball rather than throwing it away. He has always held the ball a little too long. I would rather see him throw it into the stands than take the sack I. The pocket.

There is still a lot of improvement that could be made. Part of it is the O-line is still a work in progress. For JD5 it’s all about decisions. JD5 has been making many more good ones than bad ones lately....but he still runs when he should throw and vice versa….some. When he does that, because defenses are keying on him, it’s usually a negative play.

That’s not totally unusual for a running QB.

When he steps up and then runs he goes right every time. A couple of times Saturday he had better to the left

I just didn't realize Daniels had been sacked THAT much.
Sometimes the fat running lane he sees disappears when DL sheds block and he suffers the 2yd sack.
Sometimes he busts it for big gains, so don't freak out unless they become drive killers regularly.
