Really starting to pile up. Messi and Davies out today, MNT could be missing Dest and Turner, among others. This is why you don’t play the WC in the middle of the club season! These guys should all be relaxing in camp or playing a sendoff friendly or two, not playing twice a week for over a month to squeeze in all the club and European matches! We are two weeks out today and players are still going down!

Davies is different but I think the rest are teams and players being EXTREMELY conservative while we are also paying more attention because of the significance.

The World cup turnaround is certainly worse this year but in a typical year, there is maybe 10-12 days off, 3 training matches in 10-12 days, and then the World Cup kicks off.

Groin strain so he missed the Europa game.

He was back on the match day squad this morning. I can’t handle a WC with Steffen. Must have Turner healthy.

Yeah at this point the only two players I am following from an injury standpoint are Chris Richards and Luca de la Torre.

True, but before those 10-12 days, you might have 1-2 clubs still battling for league titles, Europe spots, etc., not the entire league playing competitive matches. Same with UCL & Europa—you’d have the championship sides still playing and that’s it, not all 32 teams in each league. Just throws more chaos into the WC depending on who is missing key pieces, and further rewards the power nations with greater depth.

After this weekend’s slate of games, every team has one more game, right?

Some have two. EFL Cup third round is this week plus one more EPL match.

Lo Celso’s injury is a huge blow to Argentina’s chances

I'm paying attention to McKennie as well.

I think he'll be fine, but there is a seed of doubt.
