Surprised no one mentioned Louisiana Lagniappe. But it’s best to have reservations.

My favorite restaurants in the city for consistently good meals are:

Eliza
Umami
Beausoleil

Parrains and Chimes by LSU are a couple of my favorites, but I don't eat out very often. Beausoleil is good, haven't been to the new restaurant. City pork and Rouj are good too.

Cecilias Creole Bistro. But no way you get a table this late.

Merchant’s very talented chef moved to Bin77/Solera a few months ago. And supposedly, they’ve lost pretty much their entire kitchen staff. Bummer.

I've had multiple mediocre experiences at Elsie's and Rouj. Overpass is overrated. Last time I went to Proverbial it was subpar, same with Beausoleil. My current faves are Maison Lacour, Chow Yum Phat, and Umami.
