Thanks to all for suggestions for our trip to Savannah. I'll give a brief report of our adventures.
The hotel: The Marriott Riverside is meh. Not bad, but there are a number of better places to stay. Next trip we'll probably stay at the J.W. Marriott - it seems to be better located and more amenities.
Crystal Beer Parlor: first night supper. Good selection of beers, knowledgeable waitstaff and excellent food. I had duck wings - very good.
Grey Market for breakfast. Not very large, but unusal foods. I had the biscuits with gravy and eggs. We're certain to return.
Old Town Trolley Tour: Some had suggested to skip this, but we found it enjoyable. We got off at a couple of stops and then hopped back on later. One stop was Forsyth Park (one of twenty two parks in Savannah). Hamburger at the park cafe was only okay. Small beer selection, but did have a good Spaten Oktoberfest.
Thompson Hotel Roof Top Bar. Good view of the river. Fascinating to watch these hugh container ships pass close by.
Common Thread Restaurant. Upscale (meaning expensive). Food was good and service excellent. Very good oysters on the half-shell (you won't believe what they charge for raw oysters these days - only ordered three, but the habenero sauce was out of this world). Bonus was some patrons in Halloween costumes (with Hunter Biden photobombing the picture).
Maple Stree Biscuit Company. Very creative breakfasts - biscuits with gravy, eggs and bacon.
Georgia Queen River Boat Tour. Somewhat of a disappointment. Short cruise up and down the river. Good narration, but limited on sights.
Elizabeth on 37th. Another upscale eating establishment. Very good grouper. Dessert of apple/blueberry pie with ice cream.
Savannah Airport. Easy to get in and out.

When we went there were hundreds of bachelorette and bachelor parties there. You couldn't go anywhere without seeing them.

If you're at all into history or aviation, the 8th Air Force Museum just off I-95 is fantastic. 2 hours should get you through everything.

Went to GSU for grad school. Lived in Savannah for two years. One of my favorite cities.
