If you are looking for a budget option look up hotel IQ Roma. Very clean and modern and free breakfast. Close to train station.

If you want a more unique experience, stay in Trastevere. Beautiful neighborhood. Trust me.

My favorite hotel in Rome is the Nazionale. It is on the same square the Italian Parliament building is on. Easy walking distance to most of the major sites and many excellent restaurants. The Pantheon is around the corner and Piazza Navona is a few blocks away.

Beautiful spot overlooking the city. At the top of the Spanish Steps.

Having stayed in different parts of the city over the last 20 years, Trastevere is my favorite and it isn't really close.

My wife and I stayed in an AirBnB in Trastavere when we went in 2020. Perfect spot, and cheap. If we ever went back to Rome we would stay in the same area.

You didn’t say what your budget is.

Assuming it’s moderate, stay at the Capo d’africa. Really nice and good value. A few blocks from the coliseum.

AirBnB in Trastavere

That's what we did. Could walk to a lot of places and we were right by a tram stop if we needed to go further.

This was our favorite neighborhood, when we eventually go back we're going to stay there.
