What’s a golf trip that you never have to do again?

I went to Scottsdale last year, and desert golf just isn’t my cup of tea. I played We Ko Pa, Troon, and TPC and admittedly this is a pretentious take, but, I thought the golf was meh. I’m a huge Coore and Crenshaw fan, (love Sand Valley, Brandon Trails, and Streamsong Red) but felt like We Ko Pa couldn’t hold the jockstrap of those other courses. I know many love desert golf, however, it just all feels very manmade and unnatural to me. Where as a lot of the other golf destinations such as the Carolina’s, Wisconsin, Oregon, etc. felt as though the land was made for golf. Doesn’t mean I didnt have fun though, but I never need to go again.

I played the ocean course recently. I don’t need to go back.

I think it's a euphemism for the skid marks in Joe Biden's underwear.

As in you didn’t enjoy the Ocean Course? That’s a top 5 course in my rankings (really likely top 3), and I’ve played most of the big name public courses in the US

It’s not like I had a bad time. Hard to describe but if I’m ever in that part of the country, I would always just go to Pinehurst. I just don’t have a desire to go back there. In contrast, I’ve been to pinehurst 4 times and itching to go back.

I loved we ko pa and Scottsdale desert golf in general, but it is definitely man made and doesn’t necessarily use the natural terrain so if that isn’t your cup of tea then I agree Scottsdale or desert golf in general isn’t for you.

Perhaps an unpopular take but I've done Pebble once and really don't need to do it again.

I live in PA so not really a trip, but Oakmont. We played it twice in one day, a friend’s dad knows a member and got us invited in. The day was incredible, was treated wonderfully by everyone but man that course just beat the snot out of us. If you have to tame it down for the US Open, that’s all you need to know.

It’s fun to say I played it, but I don’t know if I’d want to do it again.

I’m done with Streamsong. Too expensive, the caddie’s aren’t great but ask for max. Two trips, the last had course condition issues which left a bad taste. People are saying Kohler courses have followed Pebble pricing, going up each year. Wouldn’t play there for $500+

Troon North, once was enough for me. Played the Luke AFB course that same week and had more fun there..

Agree about Pebble. It’s kind of like Disneyworld; everyone should go there once, but once is enough. Of course, that trip I also played Cypress Point (subtle brag), so maybe that’s why I feel that way.

Was fortunate enough to get a free golf trip to Michigan this summer. Played Forest Dunes resort. The Forest Course is immaculate. The LOOP is the attraction or oddity, depending on your perspective.
Gil Hanse course(s) that is reversible. Every-other-day you play clockwise (RED course) or counter clockwise (BLACK course). It's a links-style course, but just didn't live up the any of the hype at all. Would not go back.

Torrey Pines. Played South. Obviously a beautiful setting, but the course is a monotonous slog. If that layout wasn’t on the ocean, it would never have gotten a PGA Tour event much less multiple US Opens.

Doral wasn’t very good for the money either. (I haven’t played since to Hanse redesign to be fair)

Done with Hawaii.

Played Kapula, Kawai and Ohau courses.

Makena in Maui is awesome, but the plane ride to Hawaii is brutal.
