I do a ton of Zoom, and I often get good feedback on my sound quality. Right now, I've got a Rode NT right now. I'd like better. The sound on some podcasts and radio shows is incredible. I'd like that.
Relatedly, is there a way to do a directional mic so that it is out of camera view but gives the same audio quality?
Any help appreciated.

A shotgun mic is what you're looking for, and rode makes phenomenal ones.
You'll have to get an arm mount to place directly above your monitor to shoot straight towards your mouth. You'll likely have to get some software to adjust the background noise, but it'll sound great and be out of the way

A Shure SM7B is likely what you're hearing on podcasts.

Shure SM7B is pretty much the standard for podcasts and some other stuff. If you want to use it, you have to get an audio interface. Welcome to the audio rabbit hole.

Are you good on speakers? I use a Jabra pro headset and I am told I sound amazing.

I’m an idiot and misread the OP.

I use a blue Yeti Nano. You will never sound as good as the podcasters--Zoom and Teams crush the hell out of audio bitrate, but having a nice mic makes a difference. You'll sound not as muffled and less robotic with a decent mic--no need to buy high-end as there is no benefit due to compression.
Having a mic setup removes my worry about the Louisiana accent---I use to have issues with folks understanding me when using basic mics. Much more confident with n=my new setup.
