Why is Louisiana so much more liberal than Mississippi?

The states have identical demographics, very similar in nearly every way. What is the deal here?
Even if you compare it to Alabama, Arkansas, heck even Texas, the state is way more liberal. What is the deal?

MS has 1 bigger city thats a liberal shithole. LA has 2
More of MS population is spread out into small towns. Small town folk don’t tend to be as liberal as the same demographics in bigger cities
