But, when discussing "high horses" we aren't really discussing you specifically, are we?
And, you really aren't taking the stance of "Yeah, that would be the case normally, and I can see how you'd say that, but our situation is unique" are you? In fact, you've done the opposite.

Under the assumption that your story is true, what you did is fricked up. Under the assumption that your wife is a good person (from your description she is), she didn't deserve it.
Anyone who loves her, is naturally going to conclude the same things...especially in the face of an untimely death.
