My father’s anxiety got so bad before he died that he couldn’t leave the house. He spent his time awake worrying every single second of the day. He couldn’t just “turn it off” and meds didn’t really help him much at that point. Everything was a catastrophe to him. Something little like running out of milk would set him off and he would freak out.
I had to basically surprise him the day of doctor’s appointments that I took him to. If I reminded him the day before he would spend all that time worrying about having to go to the appointment and it would make it more difficult for me to get him to get in the vehicle to take him.
So yes….anxiety can be “that bad”. I’m pretty sure that’s what actually killed my father. He literally worried himself to death.

Very sorry to hear it. Sounds awful for him and you.

That’s so damned sad. Sorry y’all had to go through that. OCD also plays a very large role in that awful cycle.

Same here…I’ve been trying to help my mom through her anxiety for 10 years now..at one point(when she stopped taking her meds)- it got done bad that she didn’t move from the same exact spot on her couch for 3 days..scary scary stuff when you deal with someone with the real deal..
I always was one that had the mentality of “deal with it” etc.—until I witnessed a true debilitating example
