Honestly it's a lazy story.

They need to go back and look at the last 20 years of data. This problem is absolutely not new.

Lawyers on council support lawsuit settlements for their lawyer friends. This is also not new. 2nd oldest game in town besides selling arse. If the lawyers on the council and the young struggling attorneys in the PAO don't support generous settlements, then the Matrix has a ripple. Judges are affected. Private School Tuition is affected! U High's sports program will be affected!

Check this shite out. EBRP has sovereign immunity from paying lawsuits (not 100% but damn near) If we decided to tell someone to just get bent over a case we lose or we feel the award is too high, we can. Imagine for a second being able to negotiate settlement claims with that giant nuclear weapon at your disposal. You cut fair settlements, you tell the ones that are crap to pound sand. Make an example of someone. a real businessperson running CP Govt would understand this. Like him or not (and I like him) Kip was a lawyer and he turned a blind eye and every damn member of the metro council either knows this or to stupid to know it so thats prolly worse. I'm not certain how Bobby Simpson handled it but he was a dumb SOB so I'm sure he didn't understand or rock the boat. Lawyers have an unwritten unspoken agreement to never do that. We pay. We pay everybody. Cause the Matrix. Cause if you stop that gravy train you are dead in this town as a lawyer.

Those amounts are lower than many years in the past. It's a bad problem but it's number 9452169 on the list of reasons this place is done.
